Andrea Harner, LCSW

As a trauma therapist, Andrea works with women identifying folk and children affected by traumatic experiences. Her practice is rooted in the understanding that our self-perception and relationships with others are profoundly influenced by systems of power and sociocultural norms. As an EMDRIA Certified Therapist, she extensively works with folks as they navigate complex & developmental trauma, dissociation, substance dependence, feelings of shame & guilt, and the psychological toll of living in a society that often devalues and distorts non-dominant identities. In therapy, she strives to create a collaborative, affirming space for folks to unravel these layers, reconnect with their body, voice and self-worth, and facilitate healing on their terms.
Andrea supports women and children repairing the wounds from attachment injuries, caregiver misattunement, experience with intimate partner violence and coercive control. Andrea holds space for the complex emotions that arise around aging, especially for women confronting societal expectations, shifting identities, natural changes with body shapes, and the pressures of reproductive lifespan. Whether you’re exploring a desire to have children, grieving lost possibilities, or redefining what fulfillment looks like through contemporary family building, Andrea offers a space of compassion and non-judgment. Andrea believes in the healing power of relationships, integrating a client-centered, relational therapeutic approach to develop a collaborative alliance where folks feel seen. Acknowledging the profound impact trauma has on the body, Andrea incorporates somatic, neuroscience & body based modalities to support folks to safely reconnect with their bodies, access deeper layers of emotions, trauma and unconscious patterns. Andrea also draws from feminist and queer theory to challenge sociocultural constructs that limit healing and self-expression – particularly for women and those holding non-dominant identities. Her goal is to support folks in reclaiming agency, rebuilding a sense of safety, and move toward a more expansive, fulfilling way of being.
