Michelle Dorshimer is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Kutztown University. She has broad knowledge of community based mental health, utilizing community supports specific to a client’s needs. She brings expertise from a school-based and outpatient setting where she has worked with multiple populations. She is skilled in working with all ages, but specializes in working with adolescents and adults as they navigate through new life transitions, anger, mood disturbances, and challenges. Michelle is trained in Perinatal Mental Health.
Michelle has experience supporting individuals who may struggling during major transitional periods, as well as anger management, stress, anxiety, depression, educational issues, mood disorders, and emotional support. While working with an individual, she utilizes a client centered approach, while also incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.
She is also aware that each client is an individual with different goals, therefore will forge their own path using various tools. She sees the client as the driver of therapy, while she is the passenger assisting with the directions and support. She encourages all clients to be true to themselves, it is only then that they can reach their goal.
