Parent Child-Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Healing Together. Building Trust. Empowering Families.
At Everlasting Wellness LLC, we believe that every child’s behavior tells a story — and every parent deserves the tools to understand and respond with confidence, compassion, and connection.
If your child is struggling with big feelings, tantrums, disobedience, hitting, or defiance, you are not alone. Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based model designed to support children ages 2 to 7 while empowering parents to create lasting change at home.
What is PCIT?
PCIT strengthens the bond between caregiver and child while providing practical tools to manage challenging behaviors. It’s a mission-aligned approach that reflects our core belief: when children feel safe and seen, they thrive — and so do their caregivers.
You’ll be coached in real-time during weekly or biweekly sessions, where you and your child play together while a therapist observes and supports you through a small earpiece. This structure ensures you receive in-the-moment coaching to boost your confidence and help your child feel heard, understood, and guided with love and limits.
Core Values in Action
- Voice: We honor your story as a parent and your child’s emotional experience. Every interaction is rooted in listening deeply and responding intentionally.
- Empowerment: You will gain tangible tools to guide your child with calm authority — and become the expert in your own home.
- Integrity: Our therapists follow evidence-based PCIT protocols with professionalism and transparency, always centering ethical, high-quality care.
- Compassion: We approach every family without judgment. Parenting is hard — you deserve support, not shame.
- Community: You’re not doing this alone. We walk with you every step of the way, creating a circle of care that uplifts and surrounds your family.
Two Phases of PCIT
PCIT treatment unfolds in two intentional phases:
1. Strengthening the Relationship
Through therapeutic play, you’ll learn skills to create a secure emotional connection with your child. This increases your child’s sense of safety, improves their behavior, and builds their self-worth.
Benefits of this phase often include:
- Fewer tantrums and emotional outbursts
- Reduced whining, bossiness, or defiance
- Improved listening and attention span
- Increased affection, playfulness, and self-esteem
- Reduced parental frustration and guilt
2. Managing Behavior with Confidence
In the second phase, you’ll gain a simple framework for giving clear directions and setting limits in a calm, effective way. We focus on what works — not punishment but teaching and consistency.
Flexible, Accessible, and Sustainable Care
- Sessions are typically weekly, but biweekly options are available for families who need more flexibility.
- We offer virtual PCIT sessions, so families can participate from the comfort and safety of home.
- You’ll be asked to complete 5 minutes of “special playtime” at home daily to reinforce the new skills.
Is PCIT a Fit for Your Family?
If you’re parenting a child who:
- Has frequent meltdowns or explosive behavior
- Struggles with listening, following directions, or managing emotions
- Hits, bites, throws objects, or shows aggressive behavior
- Has difficulty adjusting to change or transitions
PCIT may be a powerful next step. At Everlasting Wellness LLC, we’re committed to helping families build strong, nurturing, and peaceful connections— even through the most difficult seasons.
